'Flight' by Annie Sturgeon
(Scroll down to see a small selection of images of Annies' work - lots more to see at the exhibition - a visit is a must)
Annie has had a lifelong interest in natural history, particularly birds and has developed an appreciation of wildlife that she represents through her art. Gulls have been the inspiration for her latest work and she has captured the essence of the birds capturing ‘gulls as gulls’ - their social behaviour, their scavenging, raucous activity and their beauty in flight. Using a mix of media Annie has produced a fantastic exhibition of original paintings, authographic prints & giclee prints for “Flight”. Included in the display are a collection of Annie’s hand-made books which were part of the inspiration for work in this exhibition and you will also be able to enjoy some of Annie’s earlier work including the award winning giclee print of ‘Larches’ .
John Usher is also exhibiting along with his daughter (Annie) with his wonderful collection of Countryman Sticks. John, who is based in North Yorkshire, has won numerous prizes at Agricultural Shows including the Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire.
